Programs
Our mission is to provide personalized education that will inspire each child’s unique potential and desire for lifelong learning through a strong academic, social and environmental curriculum.
CURRICULUM
Curriculum is the heart of an educational philosophy. We believe children learn best through firsthand experiences. At WCD, activities are planned to meet the following objectives:
-
To encourage intellectual growth and develop problem-solving skills through manipulative tasks (active learning);
-
To enhance physical coordination with a range of motor skill activities;
-
To foster creative imagination and appreciation through music, art, movement and dramatic play;
-
To instill a love of literature and proficiency in language and communication skills by providing relaxed, supportive experiences that encourage verbal expression and reading readiness skills;
-
To impart a love of nature and a respect for all living things;
-
To introduce the basic concepts of health and nutrition; and
-
To contribute to the awareness of, and respect for, other cultures.
Our programs provide safe, secure, flexible, and stimulating environments, supported by a warm and caring staff responsive to the children’s emerging needs, interests, growth, and self-esteem.
GREEN Preschool Class
Within this classroom, we strive to nurture and encourage our two-three year old's to participate in new experiences. They are introduced to various key activities in language, numbers, seriation, classification, spatial, representation and time. We encourage their new found independence while lending a supportive hand when needed.
BLUE Preschool Class
Our 3-4 year old's classroom plays a critical role in helping children begin to transition to our higher level High Scope curriculum. We continue to build on the educational foundation established in our GREEN classroom by introducing our children to more advanced learning in the areas of language, math, science, art... and continue our outdoor play time with FUN activities!
Pre - Kindergarten Class
In our Pre-K class, we begin the transition from aided preschooler to independent kindergartner. Our Pre-K curriculum fully prepares each child for kindergarten through literacy, math, science, and art. They are able to learn through play, hands on learning and guided instruction. After your child's time at Wine Country Day, they will have the skills and confidence to achieve a lifetime of academic success.
